Session Details
Time Commitment
Our Placement Consultation is a 1–hour session. Parents should plan to be present to speak with the instructor before and after the student evaluation.
Delivery
The consultation will take place in an online videoconferencing platform. A link to join will be provided after booking.
Report
Parents will receive a full pdf report generally 1–3 days following the consultation.
What to Expect
A Placement Consultation is a 1-hour session broken into three parts.

Introductions The first 15 minutes of the session is an opportunity for parents to speak with the instructor and share any relevant background information about their student.

Evaluation The bulk of the session (~30 minutes) consists of an informal student evaluation. The instructor will get to know your student (their likes and dislikes) and ask them to explain a few mathematical ideas based on their age and current level. The instructor will use this information to curate 2–3 MathBait® games for your student to play.

Planning In the final 15 minutes, the instructor will communicate with parents to provide the preliminary results and recommendations based on the evaluation. At this time parents provide information about their availability and preferences to allow the instructor to generate a personalized plan.
Your Report
The instructor will utilize the information gathered during the consultation to create a detailed report sent via email. Reports generally arrive 2–3 days after the session.
Your report will contain your student's areas of strength and ways to foster their mathematical acumen based on their interests, as well as areas for growth and our recommendations on how to accomplish this.
Please note, that recommendations are not limited to MathBait programs. Our recommendation will be based on the goals shared by parents and the student evaluation. We will only recommend a MathBait® program if it aligns with both the student evaluation and the goals and/or concerns shared by parents.
