When you enroll in a MathBait® class, you can expect your child will embark on an outstanding adventure! Through exploration and discovery, math will no longer be an unapproachable, dreaded subject, but a journey into our amazing universe. Our classes bridge science, history, art, music, nature, and space to allow students to discover the beautiful woven tapestry that numbers control.

Through storytelling and game play, we strive to help our students become lifelong learners by finding the joy, wonder, beauty, and utility in mathematics. Students won't be memorizing formulas and steps, but rather making sense of mathematical concepts with intuitive analogies and examples they already understand. ​

Hi! I'm Shayla.

I'm a mom, a teacher, an author, a game designer, and a numberphile. My passion is creating out-of-this-world experiences to empower the next generation to think for themselves, build confidence, and develop the skills they need to solve the world's biggest problems. ​

My husband says if he sees me at the computer laughing and smiling, he knows I must be in class. I believe students should have an enjoyable learning experience while also gaining much more than a paper full of formulas. I want every student in my classes to walk away with a deep understanding of numbers, logic, and reasoning and my absolute favorite thing to hear is, "Wow, that makes sense!".

Math is fun. Math is intuitive. And Math is for everyone. I hope you'll join me as we continue to play our way to understanding!
